Pong

Pong is a software utility that enables rapid implementation of high-fidelity, interference-based, geometric contact dynamics based on 3D graphics models. Pong was created by METECS to address the need to:

  • Quickly create contact models
  • Easily integrate with other dynamics and mechanism software packages
  • Provide a geometry based contact model that allows for easy understanding and visualization
  • Provide high fidelity contact models for verification and validation
  • Provide contact modeling that works in real-time simulations

Pong models are currently used at JSC to model the HTV-EP, CBM, LEE, and SPDM gripper mechanism. Visit the Products Pong page to learn more about this contact modeling utility.

Dynamics Modeling using Commercial Game Engines

Using commercial physics engines, METECS can model complex dynamic systems.

METECS has experience using commercial game/physics engines including Unity/PhysX and Havok to model dynamic systems and can use these capabilities to:

  • Define and implement real-time rigid body dynamics to simulate various systems for training or analysis
  • Implement various constraints to model articulations and flexible joints
  • Define collision geometry using primitives and meshes to model contact between multiple objects
  • Implement deformation using a hybrid surface/particle technique
  • Model surface friction/traction
