METECS is thrilled to introduce our newest team member, Michael Park.  Michael relocated from the Boston area in August 2016 and worked several months developing software on an autonomous brazing robot at Houston Mechatronics, Inc. (HMI).  In Boston, he worked as a robotics software engineer for the Autonomous Aerial Cargo Utility System (AACUS) at the R&D center of Aurora Flight Sciences.  Prior to this, he was a member of the technical staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory for 5 years, where he worked on various autonomous systems programs, including the first iteration of the RACECAR project (Rapid Autonomous Complex-Environment Competing Ackermann-steering Robot).  He also won an internally-awarded research grant for the development of a sensor-integrated navigation system for a target-finding UAV.
Michael received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania.  His dissertation was in the area of configuration recognition and architecture for CKBot, a modular robotic system.  He received his B.A. in Physics from Vassar College.  Welcome aboard Michael!
