Dynamics Simulation Engineer

METECS has a need for a simulation development and analysis engineer to support the Automation, Robotics, and Simulation Division at NASA, Lyndon B Johnson Space Center. The position will provide critical services in the areas of robotics and graphics simulation for ground and space flight applications supporting the Shuttle, International Space Station, and Constellation programs.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Development and maintenance of AR&SD simulation tools to meet training and analysis customer requirements
  • Analysis and resolution of Verification and Validation issues relating to dynamics or controls system simulation fidelity
  • Integration of contact dynamics and mechanical systems into analysis simulations
  • Development and support services for 3D graphics capabilities needed for simulation visualization and engineering analysis

The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and a desire to work in a dynamic and demanding environment.

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. Strong software development skills using C or C++ in a Linux environment is required. An advanced degree with experience in the areas of simulation and modeling, robotics analysis, multi-body dynamics, orbital dynamics, or hardware/software integration would be an asset. Previous experience in the NASA environment and experience with the Trick simulation toolset would be a plus.
